The Man From Coxs River
Saddle up for a Conversations@Treeview event with iconic local horseman Luke Carlon, whose family has ridden and worked along the Coxs River since the 1820s. Luke will share stories of a life shaped by the valley, from its days as a renowned horse trekking route to its closure after being declared wilderness, as well as a near-impossible mission in the remote Burragorang Valley to carefully relocate wild brumbies from a sealed water catchment. Bringing together a bushman and a National Parks ranger, the project tested old tensions and required trust, skill and a rare collaboration in an inaccessible landscape. Join us to hear Luke speak about this rich local history, the call of the wild, and where heritage, wilderness and conservation meet. After the talk, we will screen The Man from Coxs River. Light refreshments and a warming soup lunch will be provided. All welcome, with a gold coin donation to the CWA.
