David & Collen Kiely have joined us from North Queensland after living in the Blue Mountains previously.
Since retiring to Treeview Estates, David and Colleen find they have a lot more time to do the things they want and for David that includes volunteering at the aged care home next door. “I’m a retired nurse and I think what I do now is even better – I’m doing all the things I wanted to as a nurse, but didn’t have the time!” said David. “I get to sit and chat to everyone, especially when they have no family nearby. I’ve actually ended up in a sort of ‘grief counsellor’ role, which is really fulfilling,” he added.
“You need to enjoy life. Put the work in, you get something out. It’s that simple!”
Colleen and David have been married for “a while”, but that clearly doesn’t mean they’re set in their ways. “Even though we’re married we’ve found new loves.”
“We love getting involved in all the clubs and things at Treeview,” said Colleen. “I’m in the ‘Knit and Natter’ group in the Lifestyle Centre. Most people join in the Friday night social club too. That’s fabulous! We all have such a fun evening.”
“We’re joining the walking club to get fitter,” said David, adding, “and the pool player group looks fun, I want to join that.” “Sometimes we go out in small groups and organise trips out with others. Really, it’s all here if you want it.”
